Quilombo Continnum
Storytelling | Post Production Coordinator | Writer
How can one escape in a system where there is no way out? How can fugitivity be choreographed from within?
Unearthing the spiraling of time, the experimental short film invites to listen and think nearby anticolonial choreographies, legacies, and tactics of quilombo from the territory now known as Brazil.
In an effort to challenge national imaginaries and archives, the film interrupts the myth of racial democracy to enable other stories to be heard. By engaging with Black radical traditions and ongoing political struggles, “Quilombo, Continuum” assembles counter-narratives to speculate on future abolitions and quilombo world-making; in the words of Beatriz Nascimento, "a possibility in the days of destruction" (1977).

The film has been showcased at several festivals,
including the
Tietê International Film Awards 2023, San Antonio Independent Film Festival 2023, Muestra Itinerante de Cine Africano 2023, cts of Opening Again - O Quilombismo, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, IFestival de Cinema de Portoviejo 2023, Maracay International Film Festival 2023, Festival Ecrã 2023, Festival Experimental Brasil 2023, Festival Sinédoque 2023, Festival del Cinema di Cefalù 2023, Festival ULTRAcinema 2023, Festival Transterritorial de Cine Underground, Festival de Cinema Latino-Americano RABIA, Festival International du Cinéma de Guadeloupe, LASA Film Festival, Pan_Gea Global South-South Festival and Marmostra International Film Festival
